ABSTRACT
In recent years, the phenomenon of disinformation has generated significant concern, particularly within political systems, due to the threat it poses to freedom and democracy through the manipulation of public opinion aimed at undermining institutional integrity. This article presents a bibliometric analysis designed to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the scientific research dedicated to the study of disinformation. The analysis was conducted on articles indexed in the Scopus database, focusing on three key dimensions: journals, authors, and research trends. The findings indicate a growing scholarly interest in the topic of disinformation, particularly since 2018, which can be attributed to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination discourse. It may therefore be concluded that disinformation represents a complex and multifaceted area of inquiry that necessitates a transdisciplinary research approach to effectively address its diverse manifestations and societal implications.
