ABSTRACT
This article aims to highlight the essence, structure, and importance of information resources in the activities of contemporary organizations, as well as to expose the informational dimension of their functioning. The overall research problem of this article is to answer the question: How does the structure and quality of information management affect an organization's operational efficiency? The hypothesis proposed for testing is: An efficiently organized information management system positively influences an organization's operational efficiency. In the implementation of the research process, the literature analysis was employed (utilizing the narrative review method). The analyses conducted confirmed that contemporary organizations should be aware of the high complexity and heterogeneity of the set of „information resources”, as well as the need to understand which classes of information resources should be used by particular groups of employees/managers in operational, tactical, and strategic activities. In addition, the article exposes the legitimacy of identifying the information gap and information needs, which are the „foundation” for the correct management of information resources and the subsequent effective implementation of ICTs.
