ABSTRACT
The article analyzes the role of leaders in managing information, data, and communication within organizations operating under conditions of intensive digital transformation. In the face of the dynamic development of information and communication technologies and increasing threats in the area of data security, the digital competences of managerial staff are becoming a key factor for the operational and strategic effectiveness of enterprises. The aim of the study is to determine the level of digital competences among Polish leaders and to assess their impact on information and communication management, taking into account the aspect of security. The analysis is based on the European Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp), which describes key digital skills. The research problem was formulated as the question: How do leaders' digital competencies influence the effectiveness of information management in organizations undergoing digital transformation? The working hypothesis was tested: Leaders with developed digital competencies are more effective in managing information and communication in a modern organizational environment. The study was conducted using the Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) method among 456 managers from various sectors of the economy. The results indicate a significant relationship between a high level of digital competences among leaders and effective information management, data security, as well as fostering collaboration and innovation. The article contributes to research on digital leadership, emphasizing the importance of leaders’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in building a secure and efficient organizational environment in the era of digital transformation.
