ABSTRACT
Measures od direct coercion have always been a research area of broadly understood security
sciences. This chapter analyses in detail the problem related to the of direct coercion measures including
firearms in Poland, on the example of the state police formation, established on the basis of the
Police Act of 6th April 1990 (Journal Laws No U. 1990 No. 30 item 179) During the analysis, detailed attention was paid to the report of the Supreme Audit Office, published on 14th July 2022 un. “Preparation
of selected entities for public order tasks by means of direct coercion”. In addition
the perspective of the Police was also adopted and the reports of the use of direct
coercion by this formation provided valuable analytical data. In order to better understand
the legal and organizational context, a number of relevant legal regulations
concerning the use and use of means of direct coercion were also analysed. A valuable
source of information was also the doctoral thesis of A. Kubanek ut.” Limitation
of individual rights by use of direct coercion to ensure security and public order. This
chapter presents a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, considering the
two most important perspectives i.e. public official and civilian individual. The issue
of dcm. Is presented in the context of the global crisis wave that recently originated
during the pandemic, the Black Lives Matter strike waves as well as the migration
crisis in Poland’s east border. The author also engages in a dialogue on the legitimacy
of the abolition of the state monopoly on the use of direct coercive measures and
briefly presents the possible consequences of this.
